Cape Town (Day 1)

Cape Town's name originated from the term 'Cape of Good Hope' when Bartholomew Diaz and other seafarers looked forward to the sight of Table Mountain, like an inn that promised hospitality and prosperity. The presence of Table Mountain in all its splendour still invokes this kind of emotion. Cape Town is steeped in a rich history and is a cultural melting pot with its diverse and vibrant character being derived from Khoisan and other African tribes from the North, and Indonesian, French, Dutch, British and German settlers. Bustling and beautiful, the cosmopolitan nature of Cape Town means that one never tires of the multitude of experiences it has to offer.

Walvis Bay (Day 4)

Walvis Bay, well known for its fishing industry, lies on the west coast of Africa, in Namibia. The lagune has prolific birdlife, a desert golf course and very nice hotels. B&B's right next to the lagune are also recommended.
Attractions & Activities
The special attraction of Walvis Bay is the huge natural lagoon with its overwhelming abundance of seabirds. Also worth seeing in Walvis Bay, is the local museum in the Civic Centre, the Birdlife Information Centre and the wooden Rhenish mission church established in 1880.

Dakar (Day 12)

Dakar, capital of the Republic of Senegal, is a vibrant city of broad, tree-lined avenues, colorful open-air markets, inviting cafes and just a splash of French elan. Striking contemporary architecture is set off by historical colonial buildings, while a myriad of galleries, boutiques and street vendors offer everything from fine paintings, sculptures and crafts to colorful clothing and imported goods. Golf, tennis, fishing and water sports are available at a number of fine resorts and on some of the many superb beaches. Thanks to its usually excellent weather and proximity, Senegal is the most popular nation in West Africa with visitors from Europe seeking sunny beaches and relaxation.

Tenerife, Canary Islands (Day 15)

Tenerife, the largest of the seven islands that make up the Canary Island archipelago, lies between the 28th and the 29th parallel north and 16 and 17 degrees west. Slightly to the north of the Tropic of Cancer, situated in the center of the chain, between Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma. The island is just over 300 km from the African coast, and about 1,300 km from the Spanish Mainland. It has an area of 2,034 km 2 and a strangely triangular shape, with the gigantic Pico del Teide rising up in the center to 3,718 metres, making it the highest point in all of Spain.

Funchal, Madeira (Days 16, 17)

The steep green mountains behind Funchal form the perfect backdrop for the enchanting capital of Madeira. The volcanic soil and the mild climate are credited for the abundance of lush and multicolored vegetation, giving Madeira the name "Island of Eternal Spring". Funchal, the island's capital, boasts an array of hotels, restaurants and shops, plus on its outskirts a Botanical Garden with an impressive collection of some 2,000 plants from around the world. Don't miss visiting one of the wine lodges to sample Madeira's most famous product.

Southampton (Day 21)

Explore the charms of Englands third-largest seaport. Explore Southamptons archaeological sights - modern Southampton is built on the ruins of ancient Roman and Saxon ports.
Attractions & Activities
Visit the Southampton Maritime Museum, which chronicles the history of Southampton and its significant role as a port for ocean liners, the most famous being the Titanic. Not to be missed is the exhibit "Titanic Voices," where visitors can hear the story of the tragic voyage in the words of survivors and those touched by the tragedy.
